Workforce Board receives grant to support Incumbent Worker Training (IWT)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – KANKAKEE, IL – June 30, 2014 – The Grundy Livingston Kankakee Workforce Board has announced newly available dollars to help select industries offset the cost of enhancing the skills of current employees. The Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) program assists employers in developing and implementing training initiatives designed to improve operations and processes, while retaining their existing workforce.

Eligible industries include manufacturing, transportation and logistics, health care, utilities, and business and personal services.

“It’s been quite a while since we’ve been able to offer this funding,” notes Ladonna Russell, Workforce Board Executive Director. “IWT really is a tool that can be tailored to the individual needs of each employer.

“We’re excited to again be in a position to serve the community in this way.”

Workforce Board staff will meet with employers to review qualification and application requirements, and assist in designing a customized training plan.
